St. Patrick School is taking an abundance of caution and reasonable preparation in the wake of the COVID-19 challenges in our local community, stat, nation, and world.
NON-ESSENTIAL ACTIVITY POLICY
Effective today, Friday, March 13, any non-essential activities (activities not absolutely necessary) that require people to enter St. Patrick School or require students, parents, faculty, staff and/or coaches to leave the St. Patrick Campus and travel to a designated location for an event are postponed or cancelled until further notice. This includes, but is not limited to, the 5k “ Runnin’ With the Irish”, CYO sporting events, and any other athletic competition, guest speakers, and any other activity that the administration deems necessary for the safety of students and staff. Our entire school campus will not be available for use to any outside parties at any time.
We will continue to closely monitor this situation and make further decisions regarding this matter in the near future.
St. Patrick School will be closed for on campus instruction beginning on Monday, March 16th, 2020 and remain closed through Friday April 3rd, 2020. At this point in time, unless extended, school would resume on April 6th, 2020.
In that regard, students will be instructed today to take home all books and materials that are needed for e-learning.
E Learning days will be March 16,17,18,19,20, and March 30, 31, April 1,2,3. The week of March 23-27 remains “vacation” or spring break.
Each day’s assignments and learning objectives will be posted on Ren Web as in the usual course of events. The E- learning instructions that have been previously given to you will be followed, i.e. where assignments are posted, time of posting by teachers, time of teacher availability by email, etc. It may occur, because of the length of such closure, that a subject might be added to the list on the e- learning instructions; for example, 4th and 5th grade may add science or social studies on a given day, while 6th, 7th, 8th might add vocabulary.
If you or your student plan on traveling within the next month please email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
St. Patrick School contracts with a professional cleaning company on an ongoing basis. During the school closure cited above, a “deep cleaning” of all school buildings will take place.
The school office will be open Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 12 noon. This will allow parents to acquire any needed materials for e-learning as the closure progresses. In addition, there will be boxes, labeled by grades, in the school office where e-learning assignments can be deposited during the closure. Teachers will periodically pick up assignments for their review and grading during the closure and contact students by email, if needed, regarding such work. Our approach is to mirror the classroom activity as much as possible and retain the standards and instructional values of our school during this period. Thus, as your student completes a couple days of assignments, it would be appreciated if you dropped off the completed work in the school office so proper instructional feedback can proceed.
For your information, at this time all liturgical events will continue in a normal fashion, i.e., Mass, Confessions, Lenten Prayer, etc. However, please refer to the parish website for any changes.
Thank you for your cooperation in advance.
