St. Patrick Athletic Department
The St. Patrick Athletic Department and its sports programs are committed to providing our students with a positive athletic experience with emphasis on team play, fundamentals, and good sportsmanship, while at the same time supporting the academic staff with the importance of a quality education.
St. Patrick School competes in the Parochial Athletic Conference (PAC) made up of teams in Porter County, and LaPorte County in Northwest Indiana, and Berrien County in Southwest Michigan. In addition the school participates in the CYO Cross-Country and Track Meets. The school competes in the following sports:

Individual Sports Information
Cross Country
Boys and Girls grades K-8 compete in a 5-meet schedule held on Saturdays in September and October.
Kindergarten students run appx 400 Meters, 1st-4th grade run 1 Kilometer, 5th and 6th grade run 2 Kilometer, and 7th and 8th grade run 3 Kilometer.
Students compete against all the other schools in the PAC and each race in split into 5 grade divisions. In addition to the 5 PAC meets, the school participates in the CYO Cross-Country Meet and other invitational events.
Emphasis is placed on cardiovascular fitness, running form, team building, and the basics of competitive running.

Girls Volleyball
Girls in grades 5th through 8th compete in the PAC starting in September and running into the month of November. A rally type scoring is used in a best of three game format. Depending on team size, there is a team for each grade 5th through 8th. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals, team building, and overall fitness.

Basketball
Boys and Girls in grades 5th through 8th compete in the PAC and with teams outside of the PAC starting at the end of November and playing through the 1st of March. Depending on team size, each grade 5th through 8th will have a team. St. Patrick basketball teaches a motion offence and zone defense, with man to man being added as skills evolve. Emphasis is based upon fundamentals, team building, and cardiovascular fitness.

Boys and Girls in grades 5th through 8th compete in the CYO track meet and a PAC qualifying meet in addition to other invitational events. Track events including most of the running events except hurdles, and field events except pole vault. Practice is at Chesterton Middle School Track with the season beginning the end of March and running through the middle of May. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals, form, execution, team building, and overall fitness.
Running Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m
Field Events: disc, shot put, long jump, and high jump
Practices: Practices are normally held 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Chesterton Middle School track. A schedule will be available in early April.
Meets: There are approximately 4 to 5 meets with at least two of these meets on Saturdays. The team usually competes in a practice meet with other PAC teams, PAC conference meet, Andrean Invitational, and CYO Championship Meet (you need to qualify at the PAC conference meet to compete in the CYO Championships).
Uniform: All participants will need a good pair of running shoes and a team shirt. Team shirts are the same shirts that have been used in past track seasons and the same shirt that is used for cross country. Your own dark running shorts are used for the uniform.
