Book sale for PIME

Once again during the Lenten season, St. Patrick School will be taking up
classroom collections to aid the Pontifical Institute of Foreign Missions (PIME)
in their vocation to help children in impoverished countries.  In addition, the
school will be holding a "used book sale" with all proceeds going towards this
collection for the missions. Last year, we raised $500 from this sale and it
greatly added to the amount of money raised for the missions.

Please consider donating your unwanted books to St. Patrick School for
this sale.

Join the "Library Book Club"

In the past, St. Patrick School Library has encouraged its students to join the school’s Library Birthday Club. As a way to commemorate their birthday, the children are asked to bring a gift of a new book to donate to the library as a sort of “present” to their school and future students. The children will have the satisfaction of knowing they generously gave to their school and that their birthday gift will be used by others for years to come. Thank you for helping make St. Pat’s library full of enjoyable books for our students!

These books are now available at St. Patrick School Library and are geared for grades four through eight, but by no means are limited to only boys’ interests.

Choosing Books for the School Library

Purchasing books for our school library is a task I take very seriously, and it is also one of the most exciting parts of my job.  Before I add a book to the school library, I want to be sure it is (a) appropriate for a Catholic school environment, and (b) has what I like to call “readability”.  The books I have placed on my library wish list for the upcoming Barnes & Noble Bookfair have been reviewed and scrutinized by me using these two criteria.

Determining if a book is appropriate for our school can be difficult, though I take many measures to try to insure each book meets these criteria.
