SERVICE AND FINANCIAL OBLIGATION
Parents help in many volunteer capacities: art docents, chaperones, aides,
library, and school events. In order for St. Patrick School to operate and
provide excellence in Catholic education, service and financial support from
parents is needed because tuition does not cover the cost of a child’s
education. In addition to tuition payments, parents are expected to donate to
the church on a regular basis. Though the pastor and parish are generous in
supporting the school with about 36% of its expenses, both the school tuition
and church support should be made a priority in the family’s budget. Each family
is asked to give at least $800 per year in the church envelope; this income is
credited to the school budget. The Home and School organization requires a set
number of hours and a set amount of funds to be generated by each family on
fundraising activities. This is not only to involve each family in the efforts
to raise the money the Home and School gives to the parish as a subsidy, it is
also to work towards increasing that amount.
It is also a family obligation to subscribe to the
Northwest Indiana Catholic newspaper.
